Multistate Salmonella Outbreak Linked To Sausage Products

Comments Off

Public health officials in several states are investigating a salmonella outbreak that has sickened 202 people in 42 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

At least 1.2 million pounds of ready-to-east sausage products, including salami, have been recalled by Daniele International due to possible salmonella contamination.

Salmonella Senftenberg, a different serotype of Salmonella, has been found in food samples from retail and a patient household during this outbreak investigation.

Don’t eat recalled products. Consumers are advised to review the comprehensive list of recalled sausage products. Visit the FSIS site for a list of stores that sold these products (PDF).

Consumers with food safety questions can "Ask Karen," the FSIS virtual representative available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov.
